What we collect and why

The Calgary Firebird Club is a volunteer-run car club in Calgary, Alberta. This page explains what information we collect on this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

When you join or use the site, we may collect your name, email, phone number and city; your profile photo, car details, build notes and car photos; posts, comments and photos you share in the forum; event RSVPs; and whether your annual dues are paid. We do not collect any banking or card details. Our website host, Wix, also collects basic technical information, such as browser type and pages visited, using cookies.

We use this information to run the club (memberships, dues and approving new members), organize events and send reminders, run the member directory and forum, and send club news by email. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who can see your information
Public: photos in the public gallery and homepage slideshow (with the member's name), and posts in public forum boards.

Members only: the member directory, member profiles and members-only events. You can choose what other members see on your profile, such as hiding your phone number or email.

Photos at events: club volunteers may take photos at events and share them on the site and our social media. If you want a photo of you or your vehicle removed, contact us and we will take it down.
​
Dues: dues are paid by Interac e-Transfer or in person. Your bank handles the payment. We only record whether your dues are paid.

Our website is hosted by Wix.com, which stores site data on its servers, some of which may be outside Canada. We only share your information if we are required to by law.

To keep accounts safe, we use email verification, reCAPTCHA, admin approval of new members and lockouts after repeated failed logins. Only club administrators can see full member records.
Your choices and how to reach us
You can unsubscribe from club emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email. We may still send account emails, such as password resets.

We keep your information while you are a member. If you leave the club or ask us to delete your account, we will remove your information within a reasonable time, except a basic record such as past dues.

You can view and update most of your information in your member profile. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or to have your account deleted, send us a message using the form on our Contact page. Messages go to the club president.
​
The site and club membership are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
​
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
